Erol Bulut issues Cardiff City transfer update after key QPR win

Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut says the club are ‘working’ on new signings after kicking off 2024 with a key away win. The Bluebirds moved back within three points of the top six with an away win over strugglers QPR on New Year’s Day.

Bulut’s men were pegged back to 1-1 but showed real character to get back on top and to take three points home from the Englush capital. While Cardiff have managed to stay in touch with the top six, Bulut has made no bones about the fact his side need more quality if they are to make a sustained run for a playoff spot.

The Bluebirds board seemingly agrees, and Bulut has won their trust after putting together a superb start to the season based on the squad available to him coming into this season and the signings he managed on the cheap last summer.

According to Bulut, new signings will almost certainly arrive, and both he and the club are already working to make sure the squad is improved this side of February.

The City boss said after the game against QPR: “We’re working on it. It isn’t easy in January to sign players, but we will try our best for Cardiff City. Hopefully, in the coming days and weeks that we can get a few players in so that we can keep pushing.”

Cardiff likely need a new forward after losing Karlan Grant to a hamstring injury and likely for at least a few weeks. That was an area they were already short in. A new midfielder would also be beneficial with the Bluebirds having relied heavily upon Joe Ralls and Emmanouil Siopis over recent weeks. City also have the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Callum O’Dowda to come back from lengthy injuries, and both are due back in the next couple of weeks.
