Cardiff City and two others hold ‘talks’ over prime transfer target Kieffer Moore

Cardiff City are said to have held ‘preliminary talks’ over the signing of former frontman Kieffer Moore. The Bluebirds have been heavily linked with bringing the Wales international back to the Cardiff City Stadium, but there is competition aplenty.

A number of Championship sides are said to be interested in snapping up Moore, who has had to be content with substitute appearances for Premier League club Bournemouth this season. Reports have claimed the Cherries may be willing to sell Moore permanently, but a loan deal is also said to be on the cards if indeed the top-flight club allow Moore to leave.

It emerged last week that a number of clubs are interested in Moore, and the Northern Echo have now followed up those reports by claiming Cardiff, Sunderland and Ipswich Town have all held ‘preliminary talks’ over a possible deal this month.

Moore is said to be keen to return to South Wales, but he may be offered the chance to join an automatic promotion-chasing side in Ipswich. Although, the striker has spent time at Portman Road previously, joining rhe Anglian club permanently only to leave after one frustrating campaign. That could ultimately play into Cardiff’s favour.

The Bluebirds are desperate for an attacking reinforcement this month having struggled to consistently score goals this season. Kion Etete is the club’s current top scorer with five, while the injured Karlan Grant has four. To put that into perspective, the Championship’s top scorer Sammie Szmodics, of Blackburn Rovers, has 16 goals up to this point, while Adam Armstrong of Southampton and Morgan Whittaker of Plymouth Argyle each have 13.
