Cardiff City chairman makes statement on Erol Bulut’s future

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has moved to assure supporters that manager Erol Bulut will not be leaving the club. Bulut raised concerns with comments after the Bluebirds’ away defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

Bulut said: “I am not happy with many things. I have to decide about myself and the future with the club. I will make a decision about that. I have to maybe make a decision for myself on how my future will go with the club, because I came here to change some things in a positive way. I don’t know (if will continue until the end of the season), I don’t know.”

The comments came amid failure from the Cardiff board to deliver new signings as promised, with City actually two men down from the start of the winow, failing to sign any new players, while two loan players have returned to their respective parent clubs.

But with concern growing among Cardiff fans, chairman Dalman has told the BBC that Bulut will be staying at the Cardiff City Stadium, and that’s despite the fact the Turkish boss is only under contract until the end of the season.

“He’s going nowhere. Erol is an important part of our plans,” said Dalman. “I want to assure supporters we are making every effort to get players in. It has been difficult but we are still optimistic. So far in this market there has been little movement. We are not alone.”

Ultimately, Bulut will be the one to decide whether he walks away before the end of the season, but with such comments from the City boss, the club will need to move quick to tie him down to a new contract if they want to avoid having to search for a new manager any time soon.
