Cardiff City ‘closing in’ on Premier League goalkeeper

Cardiff City are said to be keen on signing a new goalkeeper this month, with a Nottingham Forest star now being linked. The Bluebirds have had a frustrating transfer window so far, leading to supporters aplenty voicing their concerns.

Though, one way or another, it seems we are likely to see incomings at the Cardiff City Stadium before the transfer window slams shut next week. One potential arrival appears to be Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who finds himself looking for a new club.

Horvath was Luton Town’s starting keeper last season as they secure promotion to the Premier League, but since returning to parent club Forest, he hasn’t made a single league appearance. The Not Top 20 Podcast are now saying Cardiff are closing in on a permanent deal to land the 28-year-old.

The signing would mean competition for the Bluebirds’ current number one Jak Alnwick, while Runar Alex Runarsson would surely be sent back to Arsenal early, given he would be number three. Runarsson has failed to convince since arriving on loan earlier in the season.

Horvath is a nine-time USA international who started his career with Real Colorado before going on to represent Molde and Club Brugge ahead of joining Forest in 2021.
