Cardiff City dealt another transfer blow as ‘target’ closes in on move

Cardiff City have been dealt a blow over one of their reported January transfer targets. The Bluebirds are still struggling to make signings this month, though they did confirm a signing for the future on Tuesday.

One player City have been linked with in recent weeks is former Rangers winger Ryan Kent. Kent has struggled for regular game time since making the move to Turkey to join Fenerbahce in the summer on a free transfer, featuring just seven times in the league.

The winger is now said to be looking for a move, and Cardiff were linked with a loan deal, largely due to manager Erol Bulut’s Turkish connections. But it seems the Bluebirds are unlikely to snap up Kent this month.

That’s because Dinamo Zagreb have reportedly stolen a march, with Turkish journalist Elis Buse Arac reporting that the Croatian club are close to agreeing a deal. It’s not clear whether it would be a loan or permanent deal, but should Kent agree to a deal, he could be on the move one way or another, and Cardiff would miss out.

Whether Kent was high on the Bluebirds’ wishlist is another thing, but the Welsh club have struggled to wrap up signings so far this month, and the wait for a signing who can make an immediate impact goes on as we head towards the final week of the month.
