Cardiff City are still in with a chance of mounting a serious playoff bid this season, but where are they currently on course to end up? The Bluebirds came into this season with limited expectations, given they were fortunate to dodge relegation last season.

City were a long way from being the biggest spenders during he summer window, and this season’s Championship has been made that much harder by the fact relegated Leeds United, Leicester City and Southampton managed to keep hold of many of their Premier League-calibre players.

Below the cream of the crop, and indeed Ipswich Town, who have defied expectations, the playoff race has remained pretty open, and despite the fact they have dropped to 14th over the last couple of weeks, Cardiff are still within two wins of the playoff spots.

According to the data, Cardiff are currently on course to finish in 11th, a three-place improvement from where they are now, but they are tipped to wind up 17 points outside the top six, which represents quite the drop-off.
