Cardiff City linked with surprise move for former La Liga creative spark

Cardiff City are being linked with a particularly eye-catching signing, and once again the rumour has a Turkish link. The Bluebirds’ summer appointment of Turkish boss Erol Bulut has given rise to transfer links aplenty involving Turkish players who players who currently play in the country.

The latest involves a North Macadonian player, but one who plies his trade for Bulut’s old club from his playing days – Trabzonspor. Enis Bhardi is the player, a 28-year-old midfielder who has 59 international caps for his nation.

The creative midfielder was a sensation during his Levante days, in particular, racking up 23 goals in 138 league appearances from midfield, garnering a reputation for his creative through balls with 23 La Liga assists in all. The Valencian club were a top division outfit back then. The 28-year-old has been with Trabzonspor since 2022, scoring four times in 38 league appearances, assisting nine across all competitions.

North Macedonian website Time Balkan say Cardiff are interested in Bardhi, but it’s almost certain the move would come in the form of a loan, with the midfielder likely earning a fair amount in Turkey. It would be quite the signing for the Bluebirds, especially given they are also set to welcome back Aaron Ramsey this month. Although, naturally, we have to take these rumours with a grain of salt for now, given we are not sure of the landscape of North Macedonian media.

What we do know is that Cardiff could do with a creative midfielder, given Romaine Sawyers’ lack of involvement, as well as a striker to help get the goals going. The Bluebirds have not been efficient enough in front of goal this season to look like a serious playoff side up to this point.
