Cardiff City star involved in scary plane incident that led to emergency landing

Cardiff City star Ebou Adams was involved in a scary plane incident on his way to the African Cup of Nations. The midfielder and his Gambia teammates were headed for the Ivory Coast ahead of AFCON 2024, which begins this weekend, when they were forced to land shortly after takeoff.

WalesOnline have reported that the plane lost cabin pressure soon after takeoff, leading to exhausted oxygen levels in the aircraft. Many aboard were said to have lost consciousness, while others were left with serious dizziness due to the lack of oxygen available.

Former Manchester United man Jaidy Sanko, who was on board, said many had “strong headaches and extreme dizziness”, while others were left “dripping in sweat”.

Fortunately, the Gambia team made it through unscathed, with City boss Erol Bulut saying: “We know that he is OK and all the team is OK. We could expect more from the Gambian team to inform the club, this we did have.”

Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet told Nieuwsblad: “We all fell asleep quickly. Me, too. I had short dreams about how my life was done – really and truly.

“After nine minutes the pilot decided to return because there was no oxygen supply. Some players did not wake up [until] immediately after landing. We almost got carbon monoxide poisoning. Another half hour of flying and we would all have been dead.”
