What Luton Town boss Rob Edwards has said about Ethan Harvath amid Cardiff City links

Cardiff City have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath in the last few days. The USA goalkeeper was a key man for Luton Town last season as they secured promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs, but he has struggled for regular opportunities back at parent club Nottingham Forest.

Reports have now claimed Cardiff could move to land Horvath as they look to add competition for Jak Alnwick, with Runar Alex Runarsson struggling to impress since arriving on loan from Arsenal.

With the links in mind, we thought we would take a look back at what Luton boss Rob Edwards had to say about Horvath last season. After a run of poor form in the winter, Edwards refused to criticise the goalkeeper based on his consistent form overall.

“He’s been fantastic, he made some brilliant saves as well today, so there is absolutely no criticism coming his way from me, at all,” said Edwards after a game where the goalkeeper made a costly error. “At the time you think, we’ve just got to clear out lines and we didn’t.”

At the end of the season, many thought Luton would move to sign Horvath permanently, but they decided not to. Asked why, Edwards said: “I love him to bits and thank him for everything he did for the football club, but we just felt and I just felt in the end that I wanted to go in a different direction. We’ve got to be forever thankful for what he did and how he helped us to get to where we are.”
