Rio Ferdinand issues Cardiff City vs Leeds United prediction

Rio Ferdinand has made a rare prediction involving Cardiff City as the Bluebirds prepare to take on Leeds United at home this weekend. Erol Bulut’s men now turn attention back to the Championship after their FA Cup exit, and they are currently three points off the top six.

Saturday’s visitors Leeds are currently seven points off the top two, and they were recently overtaken by Southampton, dropping to fourth spot. As Cardiff know from their own automatic promotion chases of the past, Leeds will go into almost every week knowing they can’t afford to drop more points, especially with the gap that already separates them from second spot.

Cardiff have put together a solid record against Leeds over the years, starting with that massive FA Cup upset in 2002, and one player who played in that game was Manchester United legend Ferdinand. The former centre-back was forced off after 22 minutes, but he was part of the Leeds team that got rocked at Ninian Park on that memorable night.

Ferdinand usually deals in all things Premier League on his Vibe with Five podcast, but he has now issued a prediction for Saturday’s Championship clash, saying: “Big game that, big rivalry. Leeds to win 2-1.”

Cardiff and Leeds played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Elland Road to kick off the season, with the Bluebirds blowing a two-goal lead on that occasion. Leeds have been excellent at home this season, but they have struggled to match that form on the road. Bulut’s men will be hoping to add to their less than ideal away record this weekend to aid their own promotion bid.
