Trust claim Cardiff City transfers ‘close’ to being agreed

Cardiff City Supporters Trust say the club have informed them that transfer deals are close to being finalised amid concern from supporters. The Bluebirds did their shopping on the cheap in the summer, but smart business has allowed Erol Bulut to take the team from relegation candidates to playoff contenders.

Though, recent weeks have outlined the need for quality additions if Cardiff are serious about challenging for a playoff spot, and Bulut has been practically begging for help on the transfer front. The Bluebirds are still likely to keep their spending affordable, but new signings are expected.

Exits are also on the cards, and deals are close to being finalised. Bulut suggested as much last week, but amid concern from supporters, Trust chair Keith Morgan has issued a statement to reassure supporters that good news is just around the corner.

“The club directors are working in close co-operation and agreement with the manager and recruitment team to bring in new players either on loan or permanently and a number of potential deals are at an advanced stage,” said Morgan.

“Deals are never straightforward as they have to be agreed with the players involved and their current clubs but it is anticipated that some deals will be finalised and announced in the coming week. The announcements will include players in and out of the club.”

The Bluebirds are currently three points off the playoffs, but with competition aplenty and likely only two playoff spots up for grabs, given the quality of Southampton and Leeds United – who are currently in third and fourth – it’s going to take a very impressive second half of the campaign for City to make up the gap. New signings will be key to pulling that off.
