Erol Bulut tells Cardiff City board they ‘have to’ keep out of contract star

Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut has told the club board what they should do when it comes to one particular contract situation. Much of the talk surrounding the Bluebirds has surrounded new signings over the recent weeks, with nothing coming easy for the Welsh club during the January transfer window.

But attention will now turn to some of the contracts that need addressing at the Cardiff City Stadium. One of those contract issues concerns captain Joe Ralls, who has witnessed just about all of the ups and downs at the club over his 13 years in South Wales.

In fact, other than a loan spell with Yeovil Town, Ralls is a one-club man as far as his senior career is concern, but after getting a short-term deal last term, the 30-year-old is out of contract this summer.

Talks are ongoing, according to Bulut, who has already instructed the board to keep hold of the midfielder, who has remained a regular this season.

“We have spoken before. I have said my opinion about that,” Bulut said at his most recent press confernece. “The board is handling it until now. I don’t know in which direction they manage it. I am of the same opinion, that we have to renew the contract.

“In my opinion, he is an important captain of this team. Thirteen years he has been here. So, we cannot say, ‘Ah, at the end of the season, you go.’ This is my opinion. What other people think, I don’t know. This is my opinion about the captain and Joe Ralls, we have to renew his contract.”
