Erol Bulut responds to playoff talk amid Cardiff City’s improved form

Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut has played down talk of a playoff charge amid improved form from his side. The Bluebirds narrowly defeated strugglers Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night to make it three straight wins and three clean sheets in four games.

City have gone from a team sliding towards the edge of relegation trouble to one just seven points outside the playoff spots with 10 games to go. But if you ask Bulut, any talk of a playoff talk is a little unrealistic, given the improvements his side still need to make.

“If you win games you feel much better,” said the City boss. “The last games we get our confidence back and it looks much better. We have 10 games to play and hopefully we can show much more.

“But I don’t think about the play-offs right now. We take every game by game and at the end we see what we are going to get. There are 30 points (remaining) and we are trying to get the maximum.

“The last four games, I’m happy. We are performing. It was not easy after the Bristol City win on Saturday, a derby – and we have to think positive.”

Cardiff next face automatic promotion chasing Ipswich Town ahead of their short trip to Swansea City.
