Perry Ng wants Cardiff City to capitalise on change in derby day fortunes

Perry Ng wants Cardiff City to capitalise on their change of derby mentality by winning all four derbies this season. The Bluebirds have already won two of three, with Saturday’s win over Bristol City making it a double over the Robins, while City also defeated Swansea City earlier in the season.

Cardiff have struggled in the South Wales derby over the last couple of years, losing four on the bounce, including two league doubles despite the fact no team had done the double in the South Wales derby in a single season in the history of the tie.

Bulut’s men ended that torrid run with a 2-1 home win over the Swans earlier in the season, and they will now be chasing a first South Wales derby double of their own when they face Swansea away from home in less than two weeks.

“We have won three derbies now – we’ll be looking to complete the four,” Ng, who scored the winner against Bristol City told the BBC. “We are excited. I think in the past we have been a bit naïve [in derbies], we have conceded sloppy goals.

“But [this season] we have been really solid, had good intensity and good shape, and we look tough to beat.”

Cardiff have now picked up seven points from their last three outings despite going into those three games on the back of a rotten run. Facing strugglers Huddersfield Town at home on Wednesday, Bulut’s men have the chance to continue their upturn in form.

“It’s so important in this league to get back-to-back wins – what a difference it makes to the dressing room,” Ng added.

“We have got Huddersfield at home on Wednesday and we’ll be looking to win again. Who knows what can happen in this league. If we can get a few wins together, get momentum behind us, it can take us somewhere.”
