‘Write us off’ – Hull City boss sends playoff message ahead of Cardiff City clash

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has sent a clear message ahead of his side’s potentially season-defining clash with Cardiff City this weekend. The Tigers are in the last chance saloon as far as their playoff hopes go after suffering defeat to Leeds United on Monday night.

Hull are now six points behind the top six, but they do have a game in hand still to play. Still, should they fail to win in South Wales, it’s likely they will have too big a mountain to climb with time slipping away in the Championship campaign.

Some already feel Hull might have slipped too far, but Tigers boss Rosenior is not too bothered about the noise from elsewhere.

“I love it,” he said when asked about those perceptions. “Write us off, write us off. There’s no pressure, there’s no pressure on us. It’s a weird one because of the way the results have gone and we’ve lost here. But I’ve got more belief that this group can do it, because had they have won (the other teams) and we won here, we’d have been in the same position, but the manner of the performance, the bravery and the way that we played by the way, without the best centre-half in the league (Jacob Greaves).

“There’s a lot of good in that and I said to them after the game, I’ve never been prouder in a defeat as a player, as a coach or as a manager than that and I’ll go down fighting with them if they give performances like that.”
