Cardiff City ‘battle’ Wrexham and others for Premier League player

Cardiff City are said to remain interested in Brighton youngster Marc Leonard along with a number of other clubs. The Bluebirds were first linked with the midfielder earlier this month, with Brighton not likely to welcome the 22-year-old back to the club.

According to Sky Sports News, Cardiff remain interested, but they are joined by new Championship club Oxford United and League One club Wrexham in showing an interest. Leonard has spent the last two seasons on loan with Northampton Town, missing just one league game between the two campaigns.

Brighton are said to be open to a sale for a reasonable figure, and Cardiff should hold an advantage over the two other interested clubs. Though, they may be forced to wait due to uncertainty over Erol Bulut’s future, which is inevitably delaying planning for next season.

Leonard appears to be a low-risk signing given the experience he has at senior level and the low fee he is likely to attract. Though, he is a player without Championship experience, and that is something Cardiff will need to consider if they can get Bulut locked down and begin pursuing potential targets any time soon.
