Cardiff City’s ball number for Carabao Cup first round draw confirmed

Cardiff City already know which number they will be for the Carabao Cup first round draw. the Bluebirds haven’t enjoyed much success in cup competitions over recent years, but fans will have memories for a lifetime from the League Cup campaign in 2011/12 and the FA Cup run in 2007/08.

The Bluebirds haven’t placed as much importance on the cup competitions in recent times, but Erol Bulut will want to see his side perform well across the board next season, and there are, of course financial rewards to doing well in the cups.

The Carabao Cup is part of that, and as preparations for next season ramp up, the EFL have confirmed when the draw for the first round will take place. A statement read: “The Round One draw of the Carabao Cup will take place live on Sky Sports News on Thursday 27 June at 11:30am. Sky Sports News presenter Dharmesh Sheth will host the draw that sees 70 Clubs across the Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two divisions enter at this stage.

“Burnley, Luton Town and the 13 Premier League Clubs not participating in European competitions will enter the competition in Round Two, with the remaining seven Clubs joining the competition in Round Three. The Carabao Cup remains regionalised in the early rounds with the draw split into a southern and northern section until Round Three.”
