Cardiff City star Rubin Colwill has ‘admirer’ in Premier League boss

Cardiff City star Rubin Colwill is reportedly attracting attention this summer, with reported interest from the Premier League. The 22-year-old has been in and out of the Bluebirds starting XI during his time as a senior player, with a combination of injury and other factors at play.

The Wales international undoubtedly has something special, but he has struggled for consistency at times, while there have been question marks over whether he is fit enough to put in the hard defensive work and last a full 90 minutes.

Still, as a young player, it’s clear Colwill has talent, and he has shown the type of quality that many City players have lacked over recent years. That is perhaps why there have been reports of interest from the Premier League, with Darren Witcoop claiming that Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is an admirer of the midfielder.

Though, the same journalist admits it is unlikely that Ipswich will push for a move this summer, which will be good news for City fans.

What Bulut has said about Colwill’s future

Erol Bulut also admitted as recently as May that Premier League clubs were expressing an interest in Colwill. He said: “When I saw Rubin in pre-season and where he is right now… I think it’s a big, big step [forward]. Now he is in the target of many Premier League clubs.

“It’s not surprising because I knew at the start of the season that he can be much, much better. He worked hard, he listened to us, but I still believe he can do much more. Then he will be at that level where we maybe we cannot hold him here.”
